Zipline Adventure Through Glerárgil River Canyon in Akureyri Town

The Glerárgil River Canyon is a hidden gem of nature, winding its way through the town of Akureyri. We have made this protected area accessible in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner, featuring a thoughtfully designed trail and five Ziplines.

Must be able to walk on uneven paths, at a moderate pace, for up to 10 minutes at a time

Zipline Akureyri Tour Agenda
The experience takes 1-2 hours depending on group size and activity level and goes something like this:
1. We welcome you at the Zipline Akureyri base at Þingvallastræti 50, near the upper edge of town, where we help you put on the safety gear.
2. Then we hike 2-3 min. to the first Zipline experience.
3. The first guide zips ahead and then receives one guest at a time. The second guide assists and secures guests on the Zipline.
4. Our group then follows a short forest path to the next Zipline, and so on for 5 different Ziplines, 25-260m long each and all crossing the river.
5. At the end of the fifth and last Zipline we hike approx. 10 min. back to base.

Please wear clothing according to weather and shoes suitable for outdoor activities.

Gloves are not necessary for this activity but could be nice if it's cold out.

A thin hat, to fit under the provided helmet, is optional.

Braid or tie long hair up in a low bun.

Cameras and phones are allowed during the activity, but please use a safety strap or put your items away in a closed pocket while Zipping.
