Every year, nature surprises us with new ice caves — and this season, Sólheimajökull glacier revealed something spectacular. Just 2.5 hours from Reykjavík, a brand-new blue ice cave has opened, glowing with shades of sapphire and glassy ice walls.  

To reach it, you’ll hike across the glacier’s dramatic surface with an expert guide, then step inside a hidden cavern where centuries of frozen history shine in surreal light. It’s the closest glacier cave to the capital, just discovered in September 2025, and one you won’t want to miss.

Minimum age is 12 years old

Minimum shoe size is 35 EU, to be able to fit our specialized glacier crampons

Guests should be prepared to walk ~4km over uneven terrain. 

Sturdy hiking boots with ankle support are mandatory for this adventure. They can be rented for a fee onsite or at the time of booking. Waterproof jacket & pants are also available to rent.
