The upper part of the West Rangá is famous for its exceptionally large brown trout. The Trout Beat stretches for about 30 km of double-bank fishing, offering a variety of flat pools, pockets, and fast-water runs. It is one of the few places in Iceland where anglers have a real chance of catching a 10-pound brown trout.
In autumn, there is also a chance to encounter Atlantic salmon in the system.
