- Northern Lights – 21:30 PM
Escape the light pollution of the city and go with us outside Akureyri to see the amazing Northern lights. The Northern Lights viewings for this winter are looking very promising and there are few better places to see them than in the north of Iceland.
Where we head each night depends on where we think it’s most likely to find clear sky and the best conditions to enjoy the lights.
The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon. Sightings cannot be guaranteed even if the tour is operated.
We decide around 6pm every day if the conditions are favorable to operate the tour. Please call us at +354 844 8388 or send an email at [email protected] on the day you are booked to see if the tour is running that day.
The Northern Lights tour is dependent on the weather and sky conditions, If the evening tour goes ahead and the Northern Lights are not seen, we will offer the trip again for free
- Lake Mývatn 9:00 AM
First, we drive along the coast of Eyjafjordur, one of the longest fjords in Iceland. We begin by stopping at Goðafoss waterfall, one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland, on our way to Lake Mývatn, the lake was created by a large basaltic lava eruption 2300 years ago, and the surrounding landscape is dominated by volcanic landforms, including lava pillars and rootless vents.
We take a look at Grjótagjá cave and a stop at the hot spring area at Hverarönd in Námaskarð and in the Nature baths where you get the chance to relax in the steam baths and bathe in the geothermal water you can also take a massage in the baths.
On the way back we come to the unique lava formations of Dimmuborgir which are among the most popular tourist attractions in the Lake Myvatn area, we stop also in Skútustaðagígar (pseudocraters area).
Our last stop is in Eyjafjordur where you can see over the fjord to Akureyri and take a great photo shot. You can not go wrong with this moderately priced and well organized small group tour.
