4 days of hiking in one of Iceland's most remote places. Silence and abundance of nature surrounding you.
For five nights you stay in beautiful and comfortable apartments. At the end of a day of hiking a hot and cold tub are waiting for you.
Experience singing in lighthouses and storie telling in the evenings.
All meals included (breakfast, lunch package, dinner with dessert), as well as all driving, guided tours, entrance fee, and hiking map of the area. Delicious products farm to table; quality meat and egg from the farm, trout from the lagoon, rhubarb and spices from the garden.
It's fairly easy hiking with no elevations but take note that some sections are walked through uneven land.

- Arrival, dinner and introduction
Arrival at the Ytra Lón Lodge and settle into your studio. Participants can get to know each other over a delicious dinner. At 8.00 pm we come together at the bar and listen to an introduction of the program for the next few days.
- From Sauðanes to Grenjanes lighthouse
Hike from Sauðanes Farm to the lighthouse at Grenjanes. Along the way are various cultural monuments. At the end of the trip, we arrive at Sauðaneshús museum for coffee, hot chocolate, and waffles topped with cream. Then head home to Ytra Lón where Jacuzzi and cold pot are waiting. When rejuvenated dinner is served. (9 km.)
- Beach hike, driftwood, and marshlands
Hike along the beach from Lambanes to river Krossós, we’re hiking up the river and then turn back to Ytra Lón along Messumelur. Driftwood and beautiful beaches, full of life. (10 km)
- Sightseeing Langanes peninsula with a hike around Skálar
We drive up to Heiðarfjall mountain and discover the traces of a NATO Forces’ radar station.
Then out to Skoruvíkurbjarg, which is buzzing with birds, here we see Icelands second-largest Northern Gannet colony in Stóra-Karl rock, thousands of Puffins, and the rarely spotted Brünnich Guillemot.
We continue all the way to Fontur, to the end of the world. Here we visit the lighthouse and see where oceans meet.
From there we go to the deserted village of Skálar and walk up to the graveyard of the early inhabitants. (5 km.)
On the way back to Ytra Lón we visit a few selected places.
- Finnafjörður bay exploration
We take direction east and drive towards Bakkafjörður village, on the way there we have a look at the monument of Kristján from Djúpalækur, one of Iceland’s most famous poets.
We make the short hike to Draugafoss and the beautiful hike to Digranes lighthouse, a picturesque placed lighthouse at Svartnes. (6 km)
On the way back we’ll experience some beautiful views over Bakkaflói.
- Time to move on
After one more delicious breakfast, we head home. Or maybe we’ve decided to stay a little bit longer in Ytra Lón. Or we keep on traveling through Iceland.
Bring your hiking boots, layers of clothing for all weather conditions, rainwear, a small backpack for the day.
