Blue Ice Experience and Fjallsárlón Iceberg Lagoon

This tour combines our most popular glacier walk, the Blue Ice Experience, with an amazing iceberg boat tour on the Fjallsárlón glacier lagoon.

Your day starts in Skaftafell – 20 minutes before departure – where you meet your certified glacier guide at our base camp next to the National Park Visitor Centre. Here, we will prep you for your 3-hour glacier walk and fit you with the necessary glacier gear – crampons, a harness, and an ice axe – before you head over to the Falljökull glacier tongue. There, one of our experienced glacier guides will lead you safely through the glacial wonderland of ridges, crevasses and ice formations.

After the glacier hike, you must make your own travel arrangements to Fjallsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where your Zodiac Adventure boat awaits you for the iceberg boat tour. Please be at the second location 15 minutes before the time indicated on your voucher. If you don't have lunch with you, the restaurant Frost at Fjallsárlón Base offers a good selection of home cooked dishes, sandwiches, and soups.

Once suited up, you head out onto the lagoon. The small and agile Zodiac boats give you a chance to sail right next to the most interesting icebergs and go up close with the massive icefall of Fjallsjökull glacier terminal face. If you are lucky you will see a piece break off the edge of the glacier and into the lagoon.

09:30AM – Glacier Walk at Skaftafell
Meeting at 09:30 at the Skaftafell National Park, you meet your guide for the day who will provide you with all the safety gear required on tour.

Once ready, we depart at 10:00 for the glacier hike. Total tour duration is 3,5 hours, with 1,5 – 2 hours on the ice depending on the conditions.

We return to the meeting point at 13:30.
03:30PM – Boat Tour at Fjallsarlón
Self driving to the next location, you meet at Fjallsarlón glacier lagoon at 15:15 where you will be provided with all the safety equipment for the boat tour.

Once the group is ready, you will take a short walk to the lagoon itself where you will find the zodiac boat to start your journey into the lagoon, getting a close up view of the glacier and possible icebergs in the water.

Total tour duration is approximately 1,5 hours including preparation time.
