If Iceland has been on your mind or you’re eager to return, mark August 12, 2026, on your calendar for a truly special event: a total solar eclipse visible in Iceland for the first time since 1954!

On this day, the moon will fully cover the sun, turning day briefly into night – a rare and unforgettable sight. The path of totality crosses key areas like the Westfjords, Snæfellsnes Peninsula, and the Reykjanes Peninsula, offering some of the best views in the world. Reykjavík will also experience a total eclipse, though the duration of total darkness there will be about one minute.

The eclipse will begin around 4:47 p.m. local time with a partial phase, reach totality near 5:48 p.m., and end by about 6:47 p.m. The longest totality, lasting over two minutes, will be near the Westfjords and Snæfellsnes Peninsula, close to the point of maximum eclipse just outside Breiðafjörður Bay.

This is a rare chance to witness a total solar eclipse in one of the world’s most stunning settings. So get ready for an incredible celestial show in Iceland on August 12, 2026!

We only offer twin rooms for this tour due to the high demand for accommodations during this popular time to visit Iceland.

Please visit National Eclipse which is a a reliable source of information about the 2026 eclipse. When it comes to solar eclipses, there is quite a lot of vital information that people need to know about, especially regarding eye safety.
