Zipline Vik, South Iceland
Zipline Adventure in Vík.
A zipline ride is a great adventure for all those who love the thrill of doing something challenging but, at the same time, very safe. The tour includes an easy hike through a breathtaking river canyon and four 30 – 240 meters long zipline rides. The scenery below you, Grafargil, is gorgeous, and you will have a birds-eye view of it as you whiz down our ziplines.
- Harness and security equipment
- A safety helmet
- Guided tour
- A car ride from our meeting point to the start and back again.
Our zipline adventure is located right next to the village of Vík, on Iceland’s South Coast, surrounded by beautiful hills and river canyons. It is not directly accessible by vehicle, so after we meet at our base and get you dressed up in safety gear and brief you shortly, we drive for 5 minutes, where the hike begins.
We have around a 5-minute easy hike to reach the take-off platform for the first zip, named Big Russ. We will give you detailed safety instructions and ensure you are comfortable with what to do during the ride so you will enjoy it to the fullest and stay safe. Once you’re ready, you wait your turn, and the next thing you know, you are zipping above this breathtaking river canyon, heart pumping with excitement and having the best birds-eye view of the area you can imagine. Right after the first zip comes the second, The Gentle Giant. This one is pure joy.
Following the first two ziplines, we have another hike through the unique rock formation of Grafargil (Grave Canyon), packed with caves and other natural gems, to our third zipline, Little Russ. On our way there, we’ll have to cross the river in a little bit creative way, so we named it Leap of Faith. Little Rush will take you over a stunning waterfall and crossing two canyons. Last but not least, we have a short hike back to the base if the weather permits. The short drive-back is always an option, though.
Closed shoes, preferably hiking boots, as there will be hiking involved to get to the start point. Dress according to the weather; Iceland is unpredictable.
- Hiking boots!
- A thin hat under the helmet and gloves might be handy (optional).
An easy and fun tour for the whole family. The trip in total takes around 2 hours, with guided hiking and two ziplines, 240 m. and 140. The tour begins and ends at our base at Víkurbraut 5, Vík. Multiple departures a day in summer.
