In this tour we start by driving to Thingvellir. We enter Thingvellir by walking through Almannagjá gorge and explore the spectacular nature by foot. This is one of the best place to study divergent plate boundary in the world. You can see the Euro Asian plate and North American tectonic plates meet.

Thingvellir is an important place in the hearts and minds of Icelanders. There was our parliament established in 930 which makes it the oldest legislative parliament in the world. And there was Iceland declared an independent country on June 17th 1944.

From Thingvellir we will drive through the countryside to the thermal landscape around the iconic Geysir. It might be possible to stop along the way and take pictures of the Icelandic horse.

At Geysir with the erupting hot springs, Strokkur blows up every 7 minutes or so. It is ideal to enjoy the scenery by Geysir for a while. There you can really feel the energy beneath the island.

Not far from Geysir is Gullfoss which is our next stop. Some say that Gullfoss is the king of Icelandic waterfalls. It is a beautiful two cascade waterfall and one of the most popular tourist stops in Iceland.

We recommend stopping for lunch at Friðheimar a charming restaurant in a greenhouse where a family grows tomatoes all year around.

It is also an option to have lunch at Geysir or at Efstadal, a farm restaurant famous for its ice cream.

In good weather there is a wiew to Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull on the way. Hekla is one of Iceland´s most active volcanoes and Eyjafjallajökull erupted in 2010 and volcanic ash was spread throughout Europe, causing great disruption to air traffic.

Our goal is to meet people’s wishes so changing a plan slightly is not a problem for us. We can offer extra stops on the way if you like.

Book now and enjoy traveling around one of Iceland's most historic place in a comfortable way with us.
