Stóri Kambur: Löngufjörur beach ride
Daytrip-Beach-Tour
After a short but scenic beach ride on our very own Hraunlandarif, we leave the wide ocean to our right and beautiful mountains to our left behind and enter a completely new scenery in the ancient lava field of Búðarhraun. Taking our horses through the stone marked path that Icelanders have travelled through for 1200 years, we ride past the lava tube cave of Búðarhellir, where we get the chance to rest up and explore.
Afterward, the journey takes us to Búðir and past its famous black church, before entering the longest beach of Iceland and one of the most popular riding beaches on the planet called Löngufjörur.
After some time of riding, we take one last look at the pulsating beauty of the North Atlantic before riding home beside the blossoming mountain roots of Breiðavík.
There is no riding experience necessary to join us on this tour. However, we do require a general level of fitness and confidence around horses, because we have to mount and dismount the horses several times during this trip.
We ride at a medium to fast speed, depending on the attending group members. The minimum age is 13. The total duration of this tour is 4-5 hours.
It is best to wear comfortable and warm clothing that isn´t slippery and doesn´t make a rustling sound.
