The south coast of Iceland is known for it´s beautiful landscape. Black sandy beaches, waterfalls, glaciers, mountains and high and steep cliffs. Driving along the shouth coast we will be passing farms and agricultural live stock. We will most likely see the Icelandic horse on the way.

We recommend stopping at the LAVA Center in Hvolsvöllur. The exhibition explains some of the magnificent natural forces that have shaped the earth.

The waterfall, Seljalandsfoss, drops 60 metres from the cliffs above. What makes him unique is that it is possible to walk behind him. It might be að good idea to bring a raincoat because the spray of the waterfall will get you wet.

Farther along the way we come to another magnificent waterfall, Skógarfoss, it´s about the same height as Seljalandsfoss but much wider and contains much more wather. There is a path up the slope next to it that you can walk up and see the waterfall from above.

At Skógar is a museum where you can find a good representatives for house building in Iceland earlier in the centuries.

The next stop is Sólheimajökull an outlet glacier of Mýrdalsjökull. It is about 1 km walk from the car to the glacier. The glacier has a lot of magnificent ice formations and rugged ridges.

From Sólheimajökull we continue our journey to Reynisfjara, a black sand beach. There you have to be aware of the dangerous waves crashing against the beach. On the beach you can see beautiful cliff with regularly shaped rock columns.

Our final stop is at Vík, small village on the south coast. It is good to stretch your legs here and take a walk around the village and down to the beach where you can get a good look at Reynisdrangar, a basalt sea-stacks standing offshore from Reynisfjall. Here is possible to have lunce before turning back to Reykjavík.

Our goal is to meet people’s wishes so changing a plan slightly is not a problem for us. We can offer extra stops on the way if you like.
