A winter afternoon for families with children

Head into the snowy highlands above Akureyri for a two-hour programme combining guided snowmobiling and sliding. This tour is designed for families with children, rather than adult-only groups. Each booking must include at least one adult aged 18 or over and at least one child aged 6–17.

Your afternoon

Pickup in Akureyri or meeting by the Forest Baths is at 13:30. We aim to start the activities around 14:00 and finish the programme around 16:00. The two hours combine snowmobiling and sliding; they are not two hours of continuous snowmobile riding. Transfers, equipment fitting and the safety briefing are additional. Timing, route and the balance of activities depend on snow and local conditions.

Who rides and who drives?

Guests must be at least 6 years old. Drivers must be at least 17 and hold and present a valid original driving licence. This applies to everyone who takes a turn driving. Children and guests who do not drive join as passengers. We use up to six two-seater guest snowmobiles for a maximum of 12 guests, subject to machine availability. Different bookings do not share machines.

Family fares

Adults aged 18+ cost ISK 32,000 each; children aged 6–17 cost ISK 26,000 each. There is no solo-rider supplement on this Family Tour. Please provide winter overall, helmet and glove sizes for every guest, including children, before departure.

Transfers and meeting instructions

Pickup and return transfer are included when selected. Guests with a car meet the guide by the Forest Baths at 13:30 and may follow the guide when conditions allow. If conditions prevent this, transfer with us from the Forest Baths is included. We normally confirm joining instructions at least 48 hours before departure and will contact you if conditions require a later change. Please follow your latest confirmed instructions.

Custom arrangements are available by enquiry. Contact us to discuss your family and preferred date.

A 100% charge applies if canceled within 60 days of the start time.
A 50% charge applies if canceled within 90 days of the start time.

Please note

This tour is for families with children. Every booking must include at least one adult aged 18 or over and at least one child aged 6–17. Adult-only groups should book our main snowmobile tour. The minimum participant age is 6.

The activity programme combines snowmobiling and sliding over approximately two hours; this is not two hours of snowmobile riding. Transfers and preparation take additional time.

All drivers must be at least 17 years old and hold and present a valid original driving licence. A licensed 17-year-old may drive, but each Family booking must still include an adult aged 18 or over. Operation depends on snow, weather and local conditions. Advance booking is required.

Guests with their own car meet the guide by the Forest Baths 30 minutes before the approximate riding start. When conditions allow, you may follow the guide in your own car. If conditions prevent this, transfer with us from the Forest Baths is included. Please follow your confirmed joining instructions.
