Here you have a chance of exploring this magical peninsula in the comfort of our Hummer. In one day you could see volcanoes, craters, waterfalls, caves, springs, lava fields, cool mountains, beautiful basalt formations on black sand beaches and a glacier. There are also small and charming fishing villages and some historical places to visit. In fact, it‘s difficult to really enjoy each and every possible place on our way within a limited time frame so most people choose to prioritize and it‘s most common to choose a route that contains:

Gerðuberg – An impressive basalt wall
Lóndrangar – Two enormous towers of volcanic rock, standing out off the shore.

Arnarstapi –  A small village where some important people in Icelandic history used to live. At this spot there is also some very interesting and beautiful nature. The shore itself for example is very interesting as the waves have curved holes and caves in the rock.
Djúpalónssandur/Dritvík – A black sand beach that‘s surrounded by big rocks. Four famous strongman stones are located at this spot. Icelandic fishermen used these stones to test each others manhood and if you could not lift them, you would not get to work on the boat.
Kirkjufell and Kirkjufellsfoss – A really cool triangle shaped mountain and a beautiful waterfall. This is probably the most popular place in Iceland amongst photographers.

Some people choose different ways to go back to the city. One option is to take the so called „Vatnaleið“ (Water route) which is the shorter way but has some great views and another option is to visit the village „Stykkishólmur“ and also check out one more waterfall that‘s called Glanni paradise. This is a longer way home and you can of course make this decision while we‘re in the middle of the trip, depending on how much time we‘ve spent so far and so on.

Keep in mind that on a large part of this trip, we‘re actually driving around the glacier Snæfellsjökull and if you want, we can try to get as close as possible but that depends on the conditions that day.

Just to mention a few other places/activities that some people want to have as a part of their trip, there is:
Vatnshellir – A very big and deep lavacave that is believed to be between 5000 and 8000 years old. People are not allowed to explore this cave without a spcial guide but we can always make that happen.
Saxhóll – This crater has an easy walking path right to the top and from there we can have some spectacular views, depending on the weather of course.
The shark museum – Here we can learn about the history, hunting and process of preparing sharks for eating. If we want, we can also taste some shark while it‘s being processed.

Into the glacier – It’s a bit of detour but well worth it if you are interested in going into a huge man-made tunnel inside of Iceland’s second largest glacier Langjökull.
