Hiking off the beaten path from the very beginning, the Iceland Volcano Hike will lead you up an ancient volcano that is now clad with fluffy green moss, and feature some of the most incredible and breathtaking views in Iceland.

Climbing steadily, you will hike up a mountain over a variety of landscapes including streams with pure drinking water to fill your drink bottle.

Eventually, you will reach the climb up the steep section to the top. The wind blows between your body and the mountain on the exhilarating steep section of the mountain which has a drop of hundreds of meters below to the glacier at the bottom of the cliff. To prevent a fall and provide confidence you will be connected to a rope for this steep and exposed 100 metres of climbing.

Upon gaining the ridge you will be greeted with a breathtaking panoramic view of the highest volcano in Iceland, Vatnajökull ice cap, five major outlet glaciers and the ocean. You will have plenty of time for photo stops along the hike, as well as having lunch on the highest point. After lunch we continue our journey along and down off the ridge to complete a circuit.

The Iceland Volcano Hike is highly recommended for fit adventure seekers and photographers. This is not an established or marked hiking trail, this is a pure Icelandic wilderness adventure!

Glacier safety equipment, Helmet, crampons, Ice axe/pole (if necessary)

All participants also need to be have the necessary equipment. It is very important that everyone arrives with enough warm clothing, gloves, a waterproof jacket and good sturdy hiking boots. Hiking boots need to provide ankle support so they need to be proper boots that cover your ankles, not just running shoes.
