Reykjanes Peninsula Private Tour
Includes pick-up and pick-off in the Capital Area
We can start our tour either at Keflavik Airport if you are arriving or in Reykjavik.
We drive from Reykjavik towards Iceland’s 7.th deepest lake, Kleifarvatn. Since the earthquakes of 2000 the lake has reduced in size by 20%. From Kleifarvatn we go to Seltun, geothermal area of Krysuvik. There you can see bubbling mud springs. We continue to the town of Grindavik, one of Iceland’s many fishing villages. In Grindavik, you can visit the ,, Saltfisksetrid” which is a museum about salt fish, if you want. We continue our journey to the hot spring of Gunna. Gunna was a very angry lady that rented a small peace of land and the landowner stole her only pot. She died and came back to haunt him. From Gunnuhver we go to the oldest lighthouse in the country, Reykjanesviti. Eldey is a small island about 10 miles from the shore and can be seen in a clear day. We continue to the bridge between continents, where you can walk over the gap that is between the North-American plate and the EuroAsian plate. Next stop is the Viking museum in Reykjanesbaer, where the Icelandic viking ship ,, Islendingur” is preserved. If you like, you can then add a stop at the Blue Lagoon but that comes at an extra price.
