Private Minivan Tour of the Golden Circle and farm visits with Northern Lights Hunt
Geology, Geothermia, Waterfalls and Northern Lights, all in one day!
The Golden Circle
The Golden Circle is the most famous tour in Iceland, and definitely among the best. It is a perfect introduction to the specificities of Iceland, its history and its diversity of landscapes.
Before the second part of our tour, when we will hunt for the Northern Lights, we will visit 4 different natural sites and two farms. We will stop in the National Park of Thingvellir (Þingvellir). Your guide will tell you about both the history and the peculiar natural features of this place. At the hot spring of Laugarvatn, you will hear about what the locals are using it for. You will be surprised. Finally, you will have a chance to see what probably are the two most famous sites of Iceland: Strokkur the Geyser and Gullfoss the Waterfall.
We will have the pleasure to have a home-made ice cream in a dairy farm, the best ice cream in Iceland in our humble opinion!. Also, we will have lunch in a tomato farm where the power of geothermia allows us to grow tomatoes all year long, even during the dark, cold and long winters.
Northern Lights Hunt
Before the tour, your guide will have had a thourough look at the weather forecasts to decide where are the most likely areas to find clear skies. This is where he will take you.
Should the chances be the greatest in the Golden Circle area, we will stick around for a litle while, and hopefully witness the most spectacular show nature has to offer over one of the great sites previously visited that day. If our best chances to see the lights are in a completely different region, your guide will bring you back to Reykjavík for dinner and pick you up later to get going on your Northern Lights hunt.
- One scoop Ice-Cream at the dairy farm
- Hot Chocolate during the Northern Lights Hunt
The first stop of our tour is Friðheimar, the most famous tomato farm of Iceland, and this is where your guide will tell you how to grow tomatoes in Iceland throughout the year.
The farm has a beautiful restaurant inside their greenhouse, where all their main dishes are tomato-based, served with homemade bread, and where their Bloody Mary drink is bloody good.
We will enjoy our lunch here in this impressively well-made and interesting surroundings!
