Steamy and colorful geothermal areas, moss-covered lava fields, caves, craters, cliffs, and the spectacular Blue Lagoon, Reykjanes has it all.
Tourists typically overlook Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula, a hidden treasure full of stunning scenery and fascinating geological history. If you'd like to discover Reykjanes and its natural wonders from the luxury of your own vehicle, consider our Private Luxury Reykjanes Jeep Tour, which includes a stop to the Blue Lagoon.
From Reykjavik, our luxury private jeep tour takes you to the Reykjanes Geopark, a UNESCO site rich in boiling geothermal springs, where we begin our journey through the wonders of Reykjanes. We explore Iceland's most active geothermal sites, such as Seltún and Gunnuhver, with their hot springs, mud pools, vapors, and stunning volcanic surroundings that you can walk among following designated paths. We also visit Kleifarvatn, the largest lake on the Reykjanes peninsula, and Grænavatn, the green lake. Another stop is Reykjanesviti, Iceland's oldest lighthouse, located by wonderful cliffs that are populated by a variety of birds during the summer.
We also drive on a bumpy road to get to admire some of Iceland's most impressive sea-cliffs, that are populated by thousands of birds in the summer months. We visit the famous Bridge Between Two Continents, a bridge that connects the European and the North-American tectonic plates that are drifting apart, where you can have the thrill of walking between the continents and over the continental rift. It is also possible to take a hike to the edge of the lava field that was created during the last volcanic eruption in Iceland, in May 2021. A short walk takes you to the newly created lava field for an amazing experience of Iceland's nature.
Our Private Luxury Reykjanes Jeep Tour also includes a stop at Viking World, a fascinating museum about the Vikings in Iceland and the North Atlantic. The Icelander, a replica of a Viking ship discovered during excavations in Norway, is the museum's major attraction. The Icelander was sailed to New York City in 2000 to honor the journey of Leifur Eiriksson, the first European to sail to North America 1,000 years earlier. This museum is a great place to learn about Iceland's history and culture.
The Blue Lagoon, one of Iceland's most famous and magnificent attractions, is the final stop on our luxury trip. You have plenty of time to go around, take photos, and relax at the café overlooking the lagoon's azure waters. You can also choose to relax in the warm lagoon with a drink in hand and a silica mask on your skin as a treat for yourself. Admission to the Blue Lagoon is not included in the tour price. Make sure you book your desired Blue Lagoon package when booking this tour. It is necessary to purchase tickets in advance in order to get entry.
We take you back to your hotel in Reykjavik or to Keflavik International Airport if you need to catch a flight at the end of our Private Luxury Jeep Tour of Reykjanes.
If you are taking this tour in the winter months (September to March) we will try to hunt for some Northern Lights before heading back to Reykjavik (weather permitting).
