Iceland Golden Circle Tour: Exploring Nature's Wonder

The Golden Circle in Iceland is a must-visit for nature lovers and history enthusiasts. This famous tourist route takes you to three iconic landmarks: The Þingvellir National Park, a historically significant site that holds a special place in Iceland's heritage, Geysir, a geothermal wonderland with the impressive Strokkur geyser shooting steam & water into the sky and Gullfoss also known as the "Golden Falls", a mighty waterfall that crashes into a deep & narrow crevice.

Highlights

  • Thingvellir National Park
  • Thingvallavatn Lake
  • Geysir Geothermal Area
  • Strokkur Geyser
  • Gullfoss Waterfall

Itinerary

First stop of this tour is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Þingvellir National Park.  This park is the location of Iceland's first Parliament, making it a place of immense cultural importance.  At this stop, you will see the dramatic rift valley formed by the separation of tectonic plates and Thingvallavatn Lake, the biggest natural lake in Iceland. While exploring this enchanting landscape, have the opportunity to admire Öxarárfoss cascading gracefully over lava rocks surrounded by pristine natural beauty.

Next stop is the Geysir geothermal area, named after the Great Geysir, the biggest yet dormant geyser in Southwestern Iceland.  The smaller Strokkur geyser, however, is active and typically erupts every 6–10 minutes. Witnessing this is a truly captivating experience that highlights the mysterious forces that lie beneath the Earth's surface.

Adding to the golden circle appeal is the mighty Gullfoss waterfall which steals the show with its awe-inspiring display of raw power. The cascading torrents of water plunge into a rugged canyon, leaving visitors in awe of nature's might.

After Gullfoss, we return west to the capital region. Your guide will drop you off at your hotel or at any location in Reykjavik that is convenient for you.
