Use this rare opportunity in the north to try to catch a glimpse of the northern lights.

When thinking of Iceland you automatically think of the Northern lights. This beautiful dancing light in the sky is best seen in the northern hemisphere on a cold winter evenings when the sky is clear.

Northern lights, Aurora Borealis, are natural light in the sky created when fast moving, charged particles from the sun collide with atoms and molecules in the Earth's atmosphere, usually at about 100 km altitude. The most common colors of northern lights are yellowish-green, green, but red, reddish-purple and purple shades are also sometimes seen.

The best time to see the northern lights is by night so those tours normally start around 8 pm and can stay until 2 am.

We will pick you up at your hotel and drive outside the capital where light pollution from the city does not interfere with this unique experience. Be sure to be warmly dressed as you may have to wait a bit and It can get cold in Iceland at winter time. You will also want to be able to get out of the car for the best view.

It is hard to promise you will see the northern lights but the period between September and April is the best time to catch it. Note that they are only visible under certain condition it has to be a solar activity and a clear sky.
If you are lucky enough to see the Northern Lights then it is an experience you will never forget. The guide will take you wherever there is the best chance to see them so often we say we are going for a Northern lights hunting. We will follow weather conditions to have the best chance of good hunting.
If the weather forecast is bad for Northern lights hunting on your booked time then we will inform you and there is always the possibility of changing the date.

Our goal is to meet people’s wishes so changing a plan slightly is not a problem for us. We can offer extra stops on the way if you like.
