Lava Tunnel & the Golden Circle
Lava tunnel & full day tour of sightseeing
On this tour we start underground in Raufarhólshellir or the Lava Tunnel. We walk into the earth to explore the inner side of a lava tunnel in a 5000 years old lava called Leitarhraun. Inside we will explore colourful lava formations along with ice-sculptures made by nature. The cave is located just 30 minutes drive from Reykjavík and is easily accessed year-round. We explore the first part of the tunnels on an approximately one-hour tour with experienced cave guides. Helmets and head-lights are provided on site. Good shoes are recommended and warm clothes. After we surface again we head on to the classic Golden Circle route with stops at Gullfoss waterfall and Geysir geothermal area with its erupting hot springs. Our nal stop on this tour is Þingvellir National Park, where the continents; Europe and North America are being forced apart – and we walk between them. Lunch stop on the way (lunch not included in the price).
Pick up from designated bus stops in Reykjavík center and all mayor hotel/hostel within the grater capital area. Pickup starts 30 minutes before the departure and may take up to 30 minutes. Please be ready at that time. Make sure you let us know beforehand where you are staying.
