Lava Cave, Thermal Pool & Waterfalls
The Tour
Go back in time in this amazing cave tour that features the 1100 years old Víðgelmir lava tube. A true magical underworld.
A magnificent experience featuring waterfalls, a magical cave and a geothermal pool.
We start the tour with visiting two amazing natural phenomenons: Deildartuguhver, the most powerful hot spring in all of Europe, and Hraunfossar, a series of waterfalls formed by rivulets streaming out of a lava field. Both places offer magnificent views that you will enjoy before moving on to Víðgelmir lava cave, where we go caving.
Situated in Hallmundarhraun lava field in west Iceland, Víðgelmir is a 1,100-year-old lava tube, considered by specialists to be one of the most remarkable caves on Earth. The roof of the lava tube has collapsed, creating two large openings near its north end. You will never forget the inside of this cave, lined with beautiful ice formations, lava stalactites and stalagmites in vivid colors.
After caving, we go to the geothermal pool in Húsafell that was originally built in 1965 and still remains one of the top recreational spots in the area. The water in the pools and hot tubs is sourced from drill holes in Selgil and Hveragil, making it a traditional Icelandic geothermal pool experience that will leave you relaxed and recharged.
