Landmannalaugar is known for its rich and colorful rhyolite mountains; painted yellow, golden, brown, grey, red and green. Rambling lava fields, blue mountain lakes and soothing hot springs are just some of the sights for you to behold. The journey to Landmannalaugar oasis takes us through the fertile and ample farmlands of the south, around the foot of the famous Mount Hekla and into the uninhabited highlands. Along the way, you will change over to a specially equipped mountain bus that will take you into the rugged wilderness.

» An active geothermal area, situated at the edge of Laugahraun lava field.

» Home to colorful geological compositions of rhyolite, obsidian and other types.

» Accommodation is available in Landmannalaugar, in a hut or at the campsite.

» By many considered to be the most beautiful location in Iceland. Is sometimes referred to as the pearl of the interior.

THINGS TO DO:

» Take a warm bath in the natural pool and take in the beautiful surroundings.

» Many different hiking routes are connected to Landmannalaugar. The Laugavegur trail ends (or begins) in Landmannalaugar. Many other trails are available, such as hiking to Landmannahellir cave.

» Try the delicious smoked trout, available at the information centre.

» Take a warm bath in the natural pool and take in the beautiful surroundings.
