Jökulsárlón & Black Diamond Beach Private Tour
Jökulsárlón and black diamond beach are without a doubt two of the most interesting places in Iceland with icebergs in the lagoon, and the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier in the background.
The name means glacier-river-lagoon and is located in the southeast of Iceland in Vatnajökull National Park. The area is unique with blue and white icebergs in the lagoon, and the glacier, Breiðamerkurjökull, in the background. As a day trip it’s a quite a long drive for a day but definitely well worth it. We also make stops along the way, depending on daylight in winter time.
Itinerary:
The Black Sand Beach
Reynisfjara, or as it is called in english The Black Sand Beach, is one of the most famous beaches in Iceland. The magnificent nature, black sand, basalt columns, Reynisdrangar sea stacks and strong waves of the Atlantic Ocean make this stop a great experience.
Vík
Vík is the southernmost village on the south coast of Iceland, located on the ring road. Famous for its beautiful landscapes, black sand beaches and strange rock formations, Vík is a great place to visit.
The Glacier Lagoon, Jökulsárlón
The gem of the trip. The most famous glacial lagoon in Iceland, full of icebergs that have broken from the glacier tail of Breiðamerkurjökull, on their way out to sea. Seals can often be seen swimming around in the lagoon or relaxing on top of a floating iceberg.
The Black Dimond Beach
Jökulsárlón is full of icebergs that melt slowly and travel down the river to the ocean. The strong current of the Atlantic Ocean throws the icebergs back to land where they are stranded on the black beach. This beach has earned the nickname Black Dimond Beach. It is a great experience to walk on the beach between the icebergs and enjoy. The sculpture of the ice is varied and you can find endless photo opportunities.
Waterfall Seljalandsfoss
Seljalandsfoss is one of the most visited waterfalls in Iceland. This 66m (213ft) high waterfall is not the most powerful waterfall in Iceland but extremely beautiful. What makes it special, though, is the fact that you can walk behind it. Just remember to bring rain gear with you because it is not unlikely that spray from the waterfall will catch you 😉
