A tour in Iceland by bus
A hop on and off bus fare along the south coast all the way to the Glacier lagoon and back
South Coast Passport is a popular passport to travel the along the south coast. On the South coast of Iceland you will find the most visited tourist attraction in Iceland and plenty of fun things to do. We visit several interesting small towns and villages such as the geothermal town Hveragerði with green houses and a warm river that you can bathe in. We also stop in Hella and Hvolsvöllur thriving tourist towns and Vík that nestles under a dormant volcano. We stop by three awesome waterfalls; Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss and Svartifoss, Skaftafell national park with many hiking trails and its excellent camp site. The dramatic black sand beach at Reynisfjara that played a huge part in Game of thrones and Diamond beach with its icebergs that glitter like diamonds on the black sand. Last but not least we stop by the wonderful Glacier lagoon with floating icebergs, a site that has inspired many film makers around the world. You can hop on and off the bus at any bus stop you choose – bring your tent and make your own itinerary for your Iceland adventure! South Coast Passport is valid for up to 60 days, from July 1st – August 31st. This is a return trip from Reykjavík to the Glacier lagoon and back to Reykjavík again.
Suggested 9 nights itinerary:
Day 1 – 3 From Reykjavík to Hveragerði – Spend two nights at Hveragerði campsite – Hike the Reykjadalur valley and take a riding tour with Sólhestar in Hveragerði.
Day 3 – 4 Hveragerði to Seljalandsfoss Spend one night and one day hiking to the Gjúfrabúi waterfall – a hidden gem. Camp at Hamragarðar.
Day 4 – 6 Seljalandsfoss – Skaftafell. Spend two nights because Skaftafell has many fantastic hiking trails and excellent camping area.
Day 6 – 8 Hop on the bus at Skaftafell to the Glacier lagoon and onward to Vík – book an adventurous Paragliding tour in Vik, explore the coast line and the Lava Centre.
Day 8 – 9 Vík – Skógar – visit the Skogar museum and take a selfie on the top of Skogafoss waterfall.
Day 9 Skógar to Reykjavík.
Warm clothes, good shoes, a tent or have arranged accommodation along the way.
