On the way to Borgarfjorður we drive around the countryside, we will be passing farms and agricultural live stock. We will most likely see the Icelandic horse on the way.

At first we will head towards Hraunfossar, a beautiful waterfalls made of subterranean water flowing out of the lava as many tiny waterfalls in the Hvítá river.

We can also see Barnafoss (Children fall), a waterfall nearby. The sign there indicated that it got this name because two children had fallen into the river and drowned long time ago.

From there we will continue to the most powerful hot spring named Deildartunguhver, it has the highest flow rate of hot springs in Europe. 180 l per sec and the water is about about 97°celsius.

If you like we can stop at the geothermal baths at Krauma. Krauma offers relaxing natural geothermal baths, a cold tub, saunas and a relaxation room where you can rest by the fireplace.

Next we visit Snorrastofa museum in Reykholt there we will view the exhibit of Snorris writings as well as seeing the modern church and Snorralaug which is the oldest man made construction and protected by the National Museum.

On the way back we stop at the Landnámssetrið, The Settlement Center, in Borgarnes.

The Settlement Center recreates the earliest days in Iceland. There you will learn about one of the best known heroes of the Icelandic Sagas, Egill Skalla-Grimsson. Egill was at once a Viking and a farmer, he was also a remarkable poet and wrote his first poem just three years old. Egill was a cruel fighter and he killed his first person only six or seven years old.

There is also a cozy little restaurant where it could be nice to have a cup of coffee and then stroll around the souvenir shop.

Our goal is to meet people’s wishes so changing a plan slightly is not a problem for us. We can offer extra stops on the way if you like.
