4 Day – Golden Circle, South Coast, and Landmannalaugar Hot Spring Tour
Experience summer highlights in Iceland: Golden Circle, South Coast, Ice Cave, Landmannalaugar hiking and Hot Spring
Day 1: On the first day of this 3-day Golden Circle and South Coast tour you'll explore the famous Golden Circle. Thingvellir National Park will be our first stop, followed by the hot spring area of Geysir, where you can expect to see Strokkur geyser erupt every 10 minutes. The last part of the Golden Circle is the magnificent Gullfoss waterfall.
Next, experience the drive down route 1 that will lead us to the famous Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls. On a clear day, you will have the opportunity to see the two surrounding glaciers. Next is the coastal village of Vik before we head to our countryside hotel.
Day 2: We continue our journey towards Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach. With the right conditions, we will take on a hike to see Svartifoss Waterfall near Skaftafell in Vatnajökull National Park (2 hour round-trip hike).
Day 3: We will start early today. On the way back to Reykjavik, really close to Vík we will find Reynisfjara, the famous black sand beach, which is also famous for its basalt columns, called Reynisdrangar. From Vik, we will visit the only natural Ice Cave that can be accessed during summer – the Katla ice cave under the volcano. If the conditions are right you can expect a visit to Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon. There are a lot of amazing places on the south coast so we will make some additional stops today before making our way back to the city. After The South Coast part off the tour, you will stay in a hotel in Hella.
Day 4: Landmannalaugar is known for its natural geothermal hot springs and stunning surrounding landscape. Having the active volcano, Hekla, in its neighborhood makes it one of Iceland´s most unique destinations. The area is a must-see for all who truly appreciate the beauty of nature. We will set off on a 4-hour hike through strangely sprawling lava fields of Laugahraun, Vondugil canyon, and the impressively saturated mountain of Brennisteinsalda. As we travel back down through the Grænagil canyon, you'll get to see its carved characteristics as a result of the geodynamic activity of mountains, volcanoes, and glacial rivers. The total hiking distance is approximately 8-10 km (4 hours). Afterward, you can enjoy a relaxing soak in the natural hot pool, where hot and cold water flows out from beneath Laugahraun.
Please remember to take swimwear and a towel with you.
