Your 3-Day Itinerary

Day 1: The Emstrur Trail – Into Þórsmörk

📍 16 km | 430m elevation gain | 6-8 hours

We’ll start with an early morning pick-up in Reykjavík and drive straight to the trailhead. Today’s route is part of the iconic Laugavegur Trail, leading us through a striking mix of black sand hills, towering canyons, and glacier-fed rivers. As we hike alongside Mýrdalsjökull and Tindfjallajökull, the landscape constantly shifts, keeping every step exciting. By evening, we descend into Þórsmörk’s greenery, where a warm meal and a restful night in the mountain hut await.

Day 2: Exploring Þórsmörk’s Hidden Trails

📍 12-14 km | 300m elevation gain | 5-7 hours

After a hearty breakfast, we set off to explore Þórsmörk—a hiker’s dreamland. Whether we tackle the panoramic ridges of Tindfjallahringur or opt for another spectacular trail, the day promises breathtaking views, ancient birch forests, and glacier-draped peaks. Lunch is enjoyed in the great outdoors, and by evening, we return to the hut for a well-earned dinner.

Day 3: Fimmvörðuháls – Across Volcanoes to Skógafoss

📍 25 km | 1,000m elevation gain | 10-12 hours

The final stretch is nothing short of legendary. The Fimmvörðuháls trail takes us between Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull, past the still-warm craters of Móði and Magni, before leading us down to the thunderous Skógafoss waterfall. After soaking in the views, we’ll wrap up the adventure with a well-deserved dinner at Midgard Base Camp before heading back to Reykjavík.
