Visit the most amazing destination of East Iceland, Stuðlagil Canyon, and after a nice day of exploring soak yourself in the rejuvenating geothermal water of Vök Baths

Making our way through the rural countryside of East Iceland we'll travel along the valley of Jökuldalur and visit the Rjúkandi Waterfall before we head to Stuðlagil canyon. The canyon is one of the largest and most beautiful basalt rock formations in Iceland and has extremely photogenic scenery. After a nice day of exploring we will continue our travel to the ever relaxing Vök Baths and soak ourselves in the therapeutic water. This day-long adventure promises to be a harmonious blend of exploration, awe, and relaxation – a truly immersive experience that will linger in your memories for years to come.

We beginnen de tour door naar de Rjúkandi-waterval in de Jökuldalur-vallei te rijden, waar we een korte stop maken en een gemakkelijke en toegankelijke wandeling naar de waterval maken. Van daaruit gaan we naar de Stuðlagil Canyon.
Stuðlagil Canyon
Nestled deep within the remote Icelandic countryside, Stuðlagil Canyon is truly a remarkable destination. On the east side of Jökulsá River we go on an easy half an hour walk to the gorge of the canyon. Total time at Stuðlagil Canyon is about 2-3 hours which gives us plenty of time to explore and enjoy the scenery along with snacks and drinks. Most of the summer the water in the river is clear with turquoise colour but in the beginning of August the river changes to grey-ish glacial water.
Vök-baden
Na van alles te hebben genoten, gaan Stuðlagil Canyon te bieden, gaan we naar de geothermische oase van Vök Baths. Vök biedt de eerste drijvende zwembaden van IJsland aan het Urriðavatn-meer, een groot zwembad met zijn eigen bar, stoombad, koude misttunnel, kwaliteitsgastfaciliteiten en restaurant Vök Bistro met uitzicht op het meer en de zwembaden met een menu gebaseerd op duurzaamheid en lokale ingrediënten.

Let op

The hike to Stuðlagil Canyon is primarily on a flat, gravel path, but there are two small inclines/declines along the way that may be challenging for some travelers. The walk to the canyon is 2,5km each way, so 5km in total.
Houd er rekening mee dat er onderweg geen maaltijdopties beschikbaar zijn, dus neem zeker een lunchpakket mee.

Het weer in IJsland kan onvoorspelbaar zijn, dus neem de juiste kleding en uitrusting mee om de hele tour comfortabel te blijven.
