Stop briefly in Hvolsvöllur for coffee, refreshments and access to facilities before continuing along the South Coast.
Visit Skógafoss, a powerful waterfall dropping approximately 60 metres from the former sea cliffs. Walk close to the waterfall or climb the staircase for views from above.
Enjoy panoramic views over the South Coast, Reynisfjara and the surrounding black sand coastline. Puffins may sometimes be seen here during the summer season.
Explore Iceland’s famous black sand beach, known for its basalt columns, Reynisdrangar sea stacks and dramatic Atlantic waves.
Visitors must always keep a safe distance from the ocean because the waves can be unpredictable and dangerous.
Stop at the Sólheimajökull glacier viewpoint and walk toward the glacier lagoon for views of the ice, volcanic landscape and surrounding mountains.
This tour includes a glacier viewpoint only and does not include glacier hiking.
Visit Seljalandsfoss, one of Iceland’s most recognisable waterfalls. When conditions allow, a walking path leads behind the waterfall.
Continue to Gullfoss, where the Hvítá River drops through two levels into a dramatic canyon. View the waterfall from several scenic platforms.
Walk through the geothermal area and watch Strokkur erupt regularly. The area also contains steaming vents, bubbling pools and colourful mineral deposits.
Finish the sightseeing route at Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Explore the rift landscape and learn about the site of Iceland’s historic parliament.
