Dag 1

Deze 6-daagse rond IJsland avontuur begint met een pick-up van uw accommodatie in Reykjavík Aan het begin van onze tour rond IJsland bezoeken we de beroemde Golden Circle, inclusief Nationaal parkÞingvellir waar IJslanders hun parlement stichtten in het jaar 930 na Christus, het oudste parlement ter wereld. De Cirkel omvat Geysir hot springs en Gullfoss waterval. Vervolgens rijden we naar het mooie South Coast. Onze eerste stop is bij Seljalandsfoss, een unieke kans om de kracht en het wonder van de natuur te ervaren Bekijk deze niet van een afstandje. Het wandelpad brengt je direct achter de waterval zelf. Vervolgens stoppen we bij de schilderachtige Skógafoss, waar het water neerstort over zeekliffen die lang geleden de kustlijn van IJsland hebben gemarkeerd Pas op voor regenbogen '- de ongelooflijke spray van deze waterval maakt het een ideale plek om er een of zelfs twee tegelijk te vangen! de laatste stop van de dag is bij Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, de thuisbasis van de beroemde Reynisdrangar-toppen, naar verluidt de figuren van twee trollen die in de zon zijn gevangen en in steen zijn veranderd, en een basaltzuilgrot Daarna gaan we naar een plattelandshotel in de buurt van het charmante dorp Kirkjubæjarklaustur, waar we zullen rusten voor de nacht.

Dag 2

De 6-daagse IJslandtour gaat verder langs de zuidkust in de richting van Skaftafell en Nationaal park Vatnajökull. Bij Skaftafell, another of Iceland´s three national parks, you can choose to add an optional glacier hike (summer) or ice caving (winter) on one of Vatnajökull outlet glaciers, , led by one of our skilled glacier guides. After that bracing experience, we will explore a little further Jökulsárlón gletsjer lagune where we can expect to see floating icebergs and the occasional frolicking seal. Beside the glacier lake, we will find another black sand crystal beach, which is usually filled with clear icebergs that have floated back to shore. For the evening, we will lay our heads in accommodations in south east of Iceland.

Dag 3

The scenery continues as we follow the coastline of the East Fjords to Egilsstaðir, a picturesque town on the banks of the Lagarfljót River. On the way there, we will go for a 3-hour hike to Hengifoss, one of the highest waterfalls in Iceland which drops into a striking gorge. Next is Litlanesfoss waterfall – look for the red strata climbing the walls around the waterfall, created by volcanic ash and basaltic lava over thousands of years as the cliff was formed in the heat of many mighty eruptions. We will then make our way to our accommodation for the night.

Dag 4

This day is filled with highlights of Iceland. We head to the Lake Mývatn area. Here our first stop will be Námaskarð geothermisch gebied, filled with mud pools and fumaroles, which are an interesting geological feature marking a vent for steam and hot gasses in the Earth´s crust.  We'll then make a stop at Natuurbaden van Mývatn, where you have the opportunity to bathe in the hot spring pools. The entrance fee can be added when booking or paid on site. For those that don't wish to go in the water, they can stroll around the area and enjoy the views or sit down in the cafeteria. Next up, we will take a walk to the Dimmuborgir, the “dark cities” of lava formations that tower overhead, from there Hverfjallkrater can be seen, caused by a volcano eruption 2500 years ago. We will continue our drive around Lake Mývatn before heading in the direction of Akureyri, with a stop on the way at Goðafoss Waterfall. Our accommodation will be at an inviting country hotel near Akureyri, the capital of North Iceland and the second-largest city in Iceland, that we will explore in the evening.

Dag 5

Today starts in Eyjafjörður fjord, where you can join an optional whale-watching boat tour. Humpback whales, dolphins, and harbor porpoises are regularly seen in these waters, and sightings are recorded on about 98% of trips.

From there, the route continues to Siglufjörður, one of Iceland’s northernmost towns. In the early 20th century, the small harbor town was the center of the country’s herring industry, and its colorful waterfront still reflects that history.

Driving around Tröllaskagi (the Troll Peninsula), you’ll follow the coast past mountain ski areas and small fishing villages. Farther along, the road runs through farmland toward Laugarbakki and gives you a look at rural life in North Iceland.

Before reaching the hotel, we’ll make a few stops in Skagafjörður, a wide fjord with several small islands. Tonight’s accommodation is a small hotel in the Laugarbakki area. On clear winter evenings, you can step outside to look for the Northern Lights.

Dag 6

Op deze laatste dag van onze zesdaagse tour door IJsland bevinden we ons in West-IJsland, een gebied dat Lonely Planet in 2016 heeft uitgeroepen tot een van de beste bestemmingen. Borgarfjörður heeft vele prachtige bezienswaardigheden en we zullen ons hier vandaag op concentreren. We stoppen bij Deildartunguhver warmwaterbron, de legendarische waterval, Barnafoss, (de waterval van de kinderen), en de Hraunfossar cascade, de atmosferische zeer lage en brede valpartijen waar het water tevoorschijn komt, letterlijk recht uit het lavaveld Volgende op de agenda is de historische en pittoreske site van Reykholt, de thuisbasis van Snorri Sturluson, de IJslandse historicus, advocaat, politicus, dichter en de auteur van enkele IJslandse sagen. Zie Snorralaug, Snorri's zwembad, dep je vingers en voel de temperatuur van het water op de plaats waar Snorri waarschijnlijk heeft gebaad! We rijden rond de schilderachtige fjord, Hvalfjörður (Walvisfjord), op weg naar de rug Reykjavík We verwachten rond 17.00 uur in de stad aan te komen
