FlyOver Iceland is an exhilarating flying ride experience at the Grandi harbour district, opened in 2019. Visitors are lifted on moving seats in front of a spherical screen and treated to a sweeping, eight-minute simulated flight over Iceland — soaring above Vatnajökull, diving into fjords, skimming waterfalls, and catching the aurora borealis from above the clouds, with wind, mist, and scent effects amplifying the sensation.
The pre-show experience includes a short orientation film and a Viking-themed narrative that frames the journey. The technology — the same platform as FlyOver Canada in Vancouver — is genuinely thrilling, and the aerial cinematography is stunning. It is one of the most original indoor attractions in Reykjavík.
FlyOver Iceland is at Grandagarður 2 in the Old Harbour area, open daily year-round with multiple show times. Tickets should be booked in advance during peak season. The experience is suitable for all ages though not recommended for people with severe motion sickness.
