The most popular route is the Laugahraun Loop, which approx. 4.7km and takes approximately 1.5–2 hrs through lava fields and rhyolite hills. End your hike with a relaxing soak in the natural hot spring near at the Landmannalaugar campsite, so do not forget your swimsuit and towel.

On our way back, we take the Sigölduleið route and make a stop at the Hnausapollur (Bláhlyur), a large volcanic crater with striking blue water inside.
