Þingvellir has been a National Park since 1928. During the Viking settlement, this place served as a meeting point for the parliament. The position of the rocky formations made Þingvellir a natural amphitheater, and perfect for public speaking. In 2004, it was named a World Heritage Site by the ユネスコ.
