A tiny, beloved seaside café at the water's edge in Hellnar, famous for its creamy fish soup, waffles and homemade bread.

Fjöruhúsið is a tiny family-run café perched right at the shoreline in the hamlet of Hellnar, reached by a short coastal walk beneath dramatic cliffs. With only about two dozen seats inside plus a terrace, its setting is as celebrated as its food.

The café is best known for its creamy fish soup served with homemade bread, alongside fresh-baked cakes and waffles and good coffee. It is a seasonal spot, generally open from around Easter to the end of October, and is consistently named among the finest cafés on Snæfellsnes. Arrive early in peak summer, as space is limited.
