Experience the magic of Iceland’s Costa Sur in winter, when snow-covered mountains, frozen landscapes, and dramatic coastal scenery create a truly unforgettable adventure. This full-day tour from Reykjavík takes you to some of Iceland’s most iconic natural attractions, showcasing the beauty of the country during the winter season.
Your journey begins with a pickup in Reykjavík, where you will meet your driver-guide and head along Iceland’s famous South Coast. As you travel through the countryside, enjoy spectacular views of snow-dusted lava fields, glacier-capped volcanoes, rugged cliffs, and vast winter landscapes.
Our first stop is Cascada Seljalandsfoss, one of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls. During winter, the surrounding cliffs and pathways are often decorated with ice and snow, creating a stunning winter wonderland. The waterfall cascades gracefully from a height of 60 meters, offering incredible photo opportunities.
A short walk away is the hidden waterfall of Gljúfrabúi. Tucked inside a narrow canyon, this enchanting waterfall becomes even more magical in winter, surrounded by icy rock formations and a peaceful atmosphere.
We then continue to Cascada Skógafoss, one of Iceland’s largest and most powerful waterfalls. The contrast between the roaring water and the frozen surroundings creates a spectacular sight. On clear winter days, you may even spot rainbows forming in the mist beneath the falls.
Next, we visit the charming village of Vik y Mýrdal, Iceland’s southernmost village. Nestled between dramatic mountains and the Atlantic coastline, Vík offers beautiful winter scenery and is an ideal place to enjoy a warm lunch break (food not included).
From Vík, we head to the world-famous Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. The striking contrast between the black volcanic sand, snow-covered cliffs, and powerful Atlantic waves makes this one of Iceland’s most dramatic winter destinations. Admire the basalt column formations and the legendary Reynisdrangar sea stacks rising from the ocean.
The adventure continues at Glaciar Sölheimajökull, one of Iceland’s most accessible glaciers. During winter, the glacier's icy formations, deep crevasses, and blue ice features become even more impressive, offering a fascinating glimpse into Iceland’s glacial landscape.
As daylight fades, we begin our journey back to Reykjavík. During the winter months, there is always a possibility of spotting the Northern Lights on the return drive if weather and aurora conditions are favorable, adding an extra touch of magic to the day.
After a memorable day exploring Iceland’s winter landscapes, waterfalls, black sand beaches, and glaciers, we return to Reykjavík and drop you off at your accommodation or designated drop-off location.
This winter South Coast tour is the perfect way to experience Iceland’s dramatic natural beauty during the colder months, combining some of the country’s most famous attractions with the unique atmosphere of the Icelandic winter season.
