But the most exciting part of today is hiking on Solheimajokull Glacier! You will get your professional glacier guide and all the necessary equipment, then please enjoy the adventure .
After a day of exploring this varied region, you will stop for the night at a hotel to rest and refuel in preparation for an exciting day two of the tour. Depending on availability, your hotel will be somewhere between the towns of Vik and Hofn, and you will have plenty of time to explore the area!
Now that you’re well-rested and ready to take on another day, the second day of this South Coast tour takes you to see some remarkable natural wonders.
You will visit the famous Diamond Beach, only a short drive from Jokulsarlon. This black sand beach got its name from the numerous chunks of ice scattered across the sand, which sparkle like diamonds when the sunlight hits them. When we are at Jokulsarlon we will take an amphibian boat tour into the lagoon.
We have additional stops at Eldhraun Lava Fields, The Bridge of the Volcanoes, and Fjadrargljufur River Canyon to complete our view of Icelandic nature. We may stop at Bridge of the Volcanoes on Day 1 depending on our lodging location.
Once our day is complete, we will return to Reykjavik. As we make our way to the city, we will drive through Vik again, and time permitting, take a stop to explore a little more.
The minimum age for participants is eight years. Be sure to pack warm clothing and comfortable shoes to enjoy every aspect of this experience. Dinner is late due to the schedule of the tour, it can be at 8/9 pm. We advise bringing snacks to prevent hungry spells.
Please note that July and August are very busy on the South Coast, and this tour fills up quickly. If you are visiting during the holidays, we suggest booking in advance.
