Langjokull Glacier
The longest human-made ice cave
Covering 1% of Iceland’s surface, Langjökull is the second-largest glacier in the country. Langjökull means “long glacier” and its location in the Highlands makes it easily accessible from north and south. But the remarkable characteristic of Langjökull is not only this. After one of the tourist companies realized that the tours to the glacier were missing something, they decided to build the longest-human made ice cave in the world. Now, people can go inside the 500 meters long tunnel and get to the heart of the glacier. Apart from this tour, you can be more adventurous and escape to the glacier for activities such as snowmobiling, skiing, and hiking.
