The location of the hostel provides a historic atmosphere.  The Start Hostel is in a renovated building (renovated in 2013) originally from the time of the early years of the international airport and the military base that has now been converted to an educational, innovation and development area.

Start Hostel is an excellent  base for travellers to enjoy the wonders of the Reykjanes peninsula including History (Viking history museum), Geology (Blue lagoon, Krisuvik hot springs, the Europe-America bridge), Nature (bird watching, seal areas), Sports (Golf clubs, Geothermal Swimming Pools, Blue Lagoon) Service and Culture (Towns of Keflavik, Njardvik, Sandgerdi etc.).

Directions

From Keflavik Airport Terminal:

By car. Drive along Reykjanesbraut (route 41) towards Reykjavík for about 9 km. You should then reach a roundabout with a sign pointing towards Ásbrú on the right. Follow that sign along Grænásbraut until you see a sign on the right pointing to Háaleitisskóli. There you turn right onto Lindarbraut. Following this street, you will see the hostel on the right, white building with a blue roof (house # 637). The main entrance and the reception are around the corner, so turn right when you see the school building across the street from the hostel.

From Reykjavik / Blue Lagoon:

By car. Drive along the main road, Reykjanesbraut (route 41), for about 47 km if coming from Reykjavík about 13 km if coming from the Blue Lagoon. You should then reach a roundabout with a sign pointing towards Ásbrú on the left. Follow that sign along Grænásbraut until you see a sign on the right pointing to Háaleitisskóli. There you turn right onto Lindarbraut. Following this street, you will see the hostel on the right, white building with a blue roof (house # 637).
