Departing from the Fagradalsfjall parking lot, this guided adventure features three incredible stops, each offering a unique view into Iceland’s ever-evolving volcanic terrain.

This tour is perfect for those who are unable or prefer not to hike the 2–3 hours typically required to reach the new lava fields on foot. Instead you ride in a specially modified 4×4 Superjeep, built to conquer rough terrain, steep mountain roads, and lava-strewn trails that ordinary vehicles can't reach. This is not just transportation — it’s part of the adventure.

The Three Stops:

1. View over Geldingadalir – Your first stop takes you to a mountaintop with sweeping views over the Geldingadalir lava fields, formed during the dramatic eruption in 2021 — the first in Reykjanes in nearly 800 years.
2. Sundhnúkagígar Crater Row – The second stop offers a striking view over the Sundhnúkagígar lava fields, born from eruptions in 2023 and 2024. The fresh black lava stretching across the landscape tells the story of powerful and recent volcanic activity.
3. Lava Close-Up Experience – The final stop brings you to the edge of the newest lava. You may even feel the heat still radiating from the ground, marvel at the scale of the flow, and even touch the rugged, newly formed lava — a rare and memorable encounter.
