Private Glaumbær Turf Museum and 1238: The Battle of Iceland Exhibition
Tour description: After meeting at the harbor, the tour starts with a scenic drive west through the Troll Peninsula to Skagafjörður Fjord. Our first stop is Glaumbær Turf Museum which is a part of the Skagafjörður Heritage Museum. Glaumbær has been a farm since the settlement and the oldest farmhouses have been preserved as they were in the mid-18th century. Step back in time and see how people lived in Iceland through the centuries.
From there we make our way to the town of Sauðárkrókur where we visit the 1238: The Battle of Iceland exhibition. 1238: The Battle of Iceland is an interactive and immersive historical experience that brings you into the middle of Viking battles and historical events. Welcoming to people of all ages the exhibition offers its guests to take part in Iceland’s history through virtual reality. Step back in time and fight alongside the Vikings.
We will then enjoy some refreshments at the Grána bistro, situated in the exhibition’s cafeteria before heading back to Akureyri harbor.
