Diving day tour in Silfra Fissure in Þingvellir National Park in Iceland

Trip Difficulty: 4/5, demanding.

Please book our Deep Into the Blue from Reykjavik tour if you would like to include pick up & drop off in Reykjavik.

Tour Highlights: Þingvellir National Park (Thingvellir National Park), Silfra Fissure, Diving, North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

– Bad eyesight? Since you are wearing a snorkeling / dive mask to see underwater there can be nothing in the way of the seal to keep them from filling up with water. That is, you can not wear glasses underneath the mask. You will have to go without them, wear eye lenses or bring your own mask with prescription.
– Requirement: Open Water certification and Dry suit certification from any internationally recognised dive agency, For example PADI, SSI, CMAS, NAUI etc.
– Driving directions: If you are meeting us on location, the meeting point is on the Silfra car park, located in Thingvellir national park. For GPS: 64°15’23.508″N 21°6’58.676″W

This world class dive tour includes diving in Silfra ravine, one of Iceland’s best-kept secrets. It is situated in the heart of Þingvellir National Park, the founding place of the world’s oldest parliament and a UNESCO world heritage site. Silfra is an otherworldly scene located in the lava field directly on top of the continental rift valley between America and Europe.

The slow current gives one a perfect pace to explore this beautiful area. The fresh water visibility is an unmatched specimen, so wide and long that sometimes it is only limited by the density of the water itself. Depth varies from 10 to 40 meters. Our dive depth is limited to 18 meters by park regulations.
PLEASE NOTE: In the winter time if the temperature falls below -0°C we will only do one extended dive. This is because the dive equipment will freeze up when we exit the water.

You can add a PADI Dry suit certification for 54.500 ISK. Please contact our sales department for further information about dry suit certification.

Disclaimer: All dive trips are undertaken on the responsibility of its participants. Arctic Adventures does not assume any responsibility for accidents which are caused by its customers or can be traced to there own actions. Participants have to sign a waiver before undertaking all trips stating that they realize that all outdoor activities carry an inherent risk.

Guided dive tour in Silfra with certied Divemaster or Dive Instructor.

All rental dive equipment, specially designed for the cold water diving.

Warm undergarment clothing (long underwear in fleece or wool), warm woolen socks and a change of clothing. The change of clothing is a precaution since no dry suit can be 100% guaranteed to be dry unless its made specially for you.

DIRECTIONS TO THE MEETING LOCATION: The meeting location for your tour is at Silfra Car Park. Type “Thingvellir Parking P5” into google maps, and it will give you directions to where you can park your car.

TO MEET YOUR GUIDE: Walk 400m back along the road until you reach the car park with all the snorkel and dive vans, and look for your guide. There are other companies at the site so make sure you go to the right one and show your voucher.

WHEN TO BE THERE: Please be ready in the car park to meet your guide 15 MINUTES before your tour is due to begin.
