This is one of our all-time classic activities close to Reykjavík. It offers sea kayaking just outside Reykjavík. Sea Kayaking tours are very weather dependent, therefore by using these two fantastic locations we can minimize cancelations due to wind. Our kayaks are very stable and easy to use. The small groups make it possible to never have more than 6 kayakers for every guide. There is no need for prior kayaking experience due to the certified kayak guides' excellent instruction.
Please note: Sea kayaking tours on open water like the Fjord Serenity are dependent on weather conditions and wave forecast. Like all outdoor adventures we reserve the right to cancel or change you itinerary at any point with your safety in mind. If your kayaking tour is canceled by us before it starts you will receive a FULL refund and our assistance in finding another adventure to fill your day.
Also note: Due to limited capacity and our small groups policy this tour sells frequently we recommend that you book this tour well in advance.
* What is a BCU 4 star kayak guide?
What is kayaking? Our sea kayaks are the best open water kayaks available. They are closed boats so no water gets into them (they are not canoes). You glide peacefully through the water, powered by your paddle strokes. You will be wearing a lifejacket; a specially made dry jacket and wet pants that will keep you warm even in the harshest off circumstances. Almost anyone can go on a kayak tour with us in Iceland. Our kayak guides will teach you everything you need to know. They will also paddle with you and are always in reach if anything should happen or if you simply have a question about the scenery!
Disclaimer: All kayak trips are undertaken on the responsibility of its participants. Arctic Adventures does not assume any responsibility for accidents which are caused by its customers or can be traced to there own actions. Participants have to sign a waiver before undertaking all trips stating that they realize that all outdoor activities carry an inherent risk.
Successful guiding performance at this level indicates that the guide has the personal skill level
and leadership ability required to lead a group of paddlers, on short (6 to 8 miles, of at least
3 hours paddling), single or multi-day journeys in a moderate tidal water environment with
winds not exceeding Beaufort Force 4. The BCU 4 Star Leader has the skills and judgement
to select appropriate environments for paddlers with a range of experience.
The BCU 4 Star Leader Award is a leadership award and not a coaching award. What does that mean in English? Simply that we only employ the best sea kayak guides you can find.
Included in your day tour: 4 star BCU certified sea kayaking guide, all the specialized sea kayaking gear including sea kayak, paddle, wet suit and a splash jacket.
Bring with you: Warm undergarment clothing (fleece/wool sweater), bathing suit, towel and a change of clothing.
The meeting point is at the kayaking base on Geldingarnes in Reykjavík at 10:00 or 14:00. The driving distance from Reykjavík Downtown is about 10 min.
