ÞÓRSMÖRK – VALLEY OF THOR SUPER JEEP TOUR
Visit the Valley of Thor on big wheels
Pickup in Reykjavík or meet at Gljúfrabúi waterfall
We’ll start your adventure with a pick-up from Reykjavík or along the route in Hveragerði, Selfoss, Hella, or Hvolsvöllur. After crossing the scenic Hellisheiði Plateau, we’ll pause at Hvolsvöllur for coffee and a chance to grab lunch and snacks for the day. If you don’t need pick-up, you can join us at Seljalandsfoss.
Seljalandsfoss waterfall
Our first major stop is Seljalandsfoss, a stunning 60-meter waterfall and one of Iceland’s most photographed sights. Take the rare opportunity to walk behind the waterfall for a unique view. Remember to bring a raincoat—you’re sure to get misty! If the sun is out, you might even catch a rainbow.
Gígjökull glacier
Next, we head toward Þórsmörk, Iceland’s highland paradise, with a visit to Gígjökull, a glacier tongue that flows from Eyjafjallajökull. Gígjökull dramatically changed after the 2010 eruption, which melted ice and flooded the valley. Here, you can see the marks of nature’s powerful forces.
Stakkholtsgjá Canyon – A Game of Thrones location
From here, we’ll explore Stakkholtsgjá Canyon, a breathtaking gorge surrounded by 100-meter-high mossy cliffs and caves. Known for its appearance in Game of Thrones, this canyon is also a rewarding short hike with a dreamy waterfall tucked into a cave at the end—a spot straight out of a fairy tale!
Þórsmörk – Valley of Thor
Our journey continues deep into Þórsmörk, a lush valley tucked between glaciers and famed for its rugged beauty. The Super Jeep comes alive here, navigating river crossings and rough terrain. Þórsmörk’s green oasis, lined with birch trees, contrasts beautifully against the black sands and glacial vistas. It’s a beloved spot for hiking and relaxation, where we’ll take a lunch break and enjoy short hikes to drink in the untouched beauty of the landscape.
Nauthúsagil ravine – A hidden gem
On our way back, we’ll stop at the hidden gem of Nauthúsagil, a narrow ravine where rowan trees grow along the ridges. A gentle walk takes us to a stunning waterfall framed by leafy shadows and light filtering through the rocks—an unforgettable sight.
After an action-packed day, we’ll make a final coffee stop in Hvolsvöllur before returning to Reykjavík around 6 PM. Get ready for a South Coast adventure that blends Iceland’s famous sights with hidden treasures!
