Zipline Akureyri Tour

Guided Zipline tour through a stunning river-canyon in the middle of Akureyri town.

Professional guides lead you on an adventure trail with five ziplines, forest paths and informative stories. The river canyon Glerárgil is a hidden nature gem running straight through the middle of Akureyri town. On this tour you will find your way through stunning scenery experienced by few, even the locals.

This experience is easily accessible to most, thanks to our thoughtfully designed trail. However, you do need to meet minimal physical requirements: Maximum weight is 120 kg (260 lbs) for safety reasons and you must be able to hike uneven paths for up to 10 min. at a time. Children must be at least 8 years old and accompanied by a parent. We strongly advise waterproof trail shoes with a good grip, because we walk on uneven paths in various conditions. Dress according to the weather on the day and you’ll be happily zipping in any weather.

All safety equipment

The experience takes 1-2 hours depending on group size and activity level and goes something like this:

We welcome you at the Zipline Akureyri base at Þingvallastræti 50, near the upper edge of town, where we help you put on the safety gear.
Then we hike 2-3 min. to the first Zipline experience.
The first guide zips ahead and then receives one guest at a time. The second guide assists and secures guests on the Zipline.
Our group then follows a short forest path to the next Zipline, and so on for 5 different Ziplines, 25-260m long each and all crossing the river.
At the end of the fifth and last Zipline we hike approx. 10 min. back to base.

Please wear clothing according to weather.

Please wear shoes suitable for outdoor activities. We recommend waterproof trail shoes with a sturdy grip.

A thin hat, to fit under the provided helmet, is optional.
