7-day West Fjords and Hornstrandir Hike in Iceland // Women-only
Hornstrandir nature reserve is situated in the Westfjords, the nature reserve is peppered with stunning scenery and boundless green lands that will fascinate you!
Join us on a playful and rejuvenating 7-day journey through the Serene West Fjords of Iceland. Get ready to hike the breathtaking Hornstrandir trail, where awe-inspiring vistas, hidden waterfalls, exquisite nordic cuisine and charming puffin colonies await.
Located in the north-west of Iceland, Hornstrandir was established in 1975, and is one of the most isolated places in Iceland. There are no hotels, or even roads in Hornstrandir Nature Reserve. You can find a few small cabins when hiking around the area. Fishing and hunting of birds were the primary professions that locals adopted before the establishment of the nature reserve. Hornstrandir covers a total area of 580 square kilometers. The magnificent nature reserve is full of cliffs and flowering lands. In winters, snow-capped mountain ranges are sure to mesmerise you. For those who want to immerse themselves in the vegetative and floral beauty of Iceland, Hornstrandir is a perfect place. In Hornstrandir, there are almost 260 different categories of flowering ferns and plants. While some of these are native to the entire Westfjords, some flowers are unique to Hornstrandir. Arctic Fox, which are Iceland’s only native mammal, are found here in numbers.

We want to emphasise the importance of rain proof gear and good boots while hiking in Iceland and for Hornstrandir you need to bring four-season equipment. Your boots should have good ankle support and be waterproof. We also recommend good quality wool hiking socks. If you spend a few days in the reserve you are very likely going to get wet at some point. Wool continues to insulate even after its wet and its dries relatively quickly. Stick your damp socks at the bottom of your sleeping bag to dry overnight. Camp shoes are great for letting your feet air out and giving them a break from your heavy boots.
Accommodation will be offered in twin or single rooms.
Breakfast and dinner is included in the tour, grocery shop stop for lunch.
