Reykjanes peninsula is one of Icelands hidden gems. This is really volcanic area with lava and black sand all around. The fishing industry is really big there and it has mainly been built on the fishing industry. That´s why we want to show you a little bit into the fishermans life while exploring the wild and volcanic nature there with a taste of the Viking whiskey named after one of the first Vikings to step on land here in Iceland.
You will be picked up at your hotel in Reykjavik, the airport or any hotel in Reykjanes peninsula at any time you want. From there you will head to this adventurous journey where you will hear stories of elves, trolls and monsters in Iceland.
Your first stop is the northernmost village of Reykjanes peninsula. This is an old fishing village with two lighthouses. On that is not in use anymore and one that was built during the World War second. There is also a wooden boat on dry there with a little dock around it so you can step on board and explore the boat.
Second stop is a really small village named Hafnir. This is the oldest village on Reykjanes peninsula and has a great history. There is the oldest church on Reykjanes, black church. Why are churches black? Houses ruins from the time of settlement and 130 year old anchor from a ship that ran aground there.
You leave the North American part of Iceland to go over to the European part and visit the bridge between these two continents. You do not need a passport for that. Iceland is located on two tectonic plates and it is the only place in the world where you can walk between these two continents.
Further down south are geothermal hot mud pools. This place is named after a female ghost that used to live there. Sometimes you can hear her scream. You can see hot steam coming from the ground all around and boiling hot water coming straight from the earth.
Just a minute drive from there are the Reykjanes cliffs. This place is absolutely magical. Watching the waves break at black lava cliffs with birds playing and enjoying the fresh air from the North Atlantic. On good days you can see whales playing out there.
Next stop is a place called Brimketill. This is a small pool inside the cliffs by the ocean. It is not allowed to swim in it but seeing the powerful waves break there and sometimes break all over you and get you wet is the highlight for many.
We safe the best for last. The Blue Lagoon is next. Bathing in this blue water in black lava fields with green moss on top is absolutely amazing. All these colours takes you to a different place in your mind.
This tour is available for 18 passengers max.
Note: You have to book in advance for the Blue Lagoon.
