- Difficulty: Easy
- Season: October to April
What to Expect
The tour begins at 7:00 AM at the main parking area at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, a well-known meeting point. Your guide will then drive the group approximately 30 minutes toward Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, offering insights into the surrounding landscape and the geological forces that shape these extraordinary ice formations.
After arriving near the glacier, the walk is easy. Depending on the day's conditions, it typically takes 20–25 minutes each way. On some days, the distance may be shorter. This walk takes you through lovely terrain, giving you plenty of opportunities to observe and capture the raw beauty of the glacier area.
Once you reach the ice cave, you'll have about 1.5 to 2 hours to get into photography mode. The cave offers dramatic contrasts of deep blue ice, intricate patterns, and natural light filtering through the ice walls, creating the perfect setting for capturing unforgettable images. The surrounding area near the cave can also provide incredible photography opportunities for various compositions.

Important before you book!
Natural ice caves are very popular; people all around the world want to see this phenomenon. We have a high season in February and March. That is why we start the tours early in the morning, which is the best option: there are more likely to be fewer people in the Ice Cave in the early morning tours.
We can never promise to be there alone; there might be photography tours from other companies or just a normal ice cave tour.
I will do my best to make this tour as unique and photogenic as possible.
Be sure to secure your spot. We have limited space available.
