Strokkur
The Active Geyser
Just like The Great Geysir, Strokkur is a geothermal feature that attracts thousands of locals and tourists to see it every year. In the past years, Strokkur has become the main attraction due to the period of inactiveness from Geysir. The eruptions of Strokkur can happen between five and twelve minutes, and can even reach 40 meters high. That doesn’t happen that often, but you will be able to catch it reaching a 20-meter height.
Sometimes also, you will see it doesn’t go that high, but no worries, that’s only a pre-show before the real beauty rises. If you want to visit Strokkur, check our Guide Around the Golden Circle and make it a road trip to see the rest of beautiful places in the area!
