- Exploring Tórshavn and Heimablíðna
Our journey begins getting acquainted with Tórshavn. We will wander around the old town, Tinganes, with its turf-roofed houses, and explore Skansin, the old fortress. We will pause for lunch at a typical Faroese Restaurant trying traditional Faroes Food. We will then do a walking tour of the harbour.
Later we will venture out to Kirkjubour, a 20 minute drive from Tórshavn. This ancient village is home to the ruins of the Magnus Cathedral and the oldest inhabited wooden house in the world, Roykstovan. Dinner will be served with the family at Roykstovan.
- Vagar Island-Waterfalls, Lakes, and Hikes
Morning Adventure to Vágar Island. Hike to Lake Sørvágsvatn, the famous “lake above the ocean”. This optical illusion-like sight is a breathtaking introduction to the Faroe´s rugged beauty. In the afternoon we will visit Múlafossur waterfall. This stunning waterfall cascades directly into the sea with dramatic cliffs in the background offering unforgettable views. We will then return to Tórshavn and have dinner at Árstofan well known for traditional Faroese Cuisine.
- Streymoy Island-Vestmanna Cliffs and Puffins
Head out to Vestmanna for a thrilling boat tour to the Vestmanna Sea Cliffs. Cruise through narrow fjords and caves, with towering cliffs above you. Keep an eye out for puffins, kittiwakes, and other seabirds. Lunch in Vestmanna, focus on fresh fish. After we explore the tiny village of Saksun, with its idyllic, isolated setting surrounded by mountains and a tidal lagoon. Evening back in Tórshavn, enjoy a casual dinner at Barbara Fish where seafood is star.
- Eysturoy Island-Mountain Adventures
Drive to Gjógv, a picturesque village on Eysturoy Island, known for its natural harbor surrounded by cliffs. On they way, stop at Funningur and take in a view of the fjord. For the adventurous we can hike to Slættaratindur, the highest mountain in the Faroes ( 882 meters ). The view from the top on a clear day is otherworldly.
After hiking drive through Eiði, another charming village, and make stops along the way to see the famous Risin and Kellingin sea stacks, two towering rock formations just off the coast. Return to Tórshavn and enjoy dinner at Etika, a sushi restaurant with a Faroese Twist.
- Kalsoy Island-The Seal Woman, Scenic Wonders and Föroya Bjór
Take the ferry from Klaksvík to Kalsoy Island, known for its breathtaking landscapes and folklore. Hike up to the iconic Kallur Lighthouse, offering views over the sheer cliffs and surrounding islands. Look for the statue of the Seal Woman near Mikladalur village. Return to Klaksvík for a tour of Föroya Bjór brewery and distillery. Try out some Faroese Beer. Farewell Dinner back in Törshavn at the Tarv and toast to your Faroe Islands adventure with a local beer!
