Deep Into the Blue – Silfra Diving from Reykjavík
Deep Into the Blue - Silfra Diving from Reykjavík
Silfra Fissure: Dive the Divide | From Reykjavík
Plunge into the crystal-clear waters of the Silfra Fissure, located in the heart of Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Consistently rated as one of the top dive sites in the world, Silfra offers an otherworldly experience where you dive between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. With visibility exceeding 100 meters, the glacial water is so pure you can drink it. You’ll glide through a surreal landscape of neon-green "troll hair" algae and deep volcanic rock formations, in the only place on Earth where you can dive between two continents.

Since 2004 Þingvellir has become part of the UNESCO world heritage list. The park is located approximately 40 km north east of Reykjavik and is home to the lake Þingvallavatn. - Silfra Fissure
Silfra is a narrow canyon in the lava field located between the continents of America and Europe. The water in Silfra is a mixture of ground water from the surrounding area and melt water fromLangjökull glacier in the highlands. It takes the glacial water decades to filter through the massive lava field before it enters the fissure. This makes the water in Silfra one of the purest and clearest in the world, the underwater visibility, in the heavenly blue water, is normally 70-80 meters, better than anywhere else in the world. - Reykjavík
